Fremantle Dockers goal sneak Michael Walters says he’s been inspired by Hawthorn champion Cyril Rioli in recent weeks as he’s split his time between the midfield and forward line.
One of the competitions most potent attacking forces, Walters has been covering for the injured Stephen Hill in the Dockers midfield but spent more time in the forward line in the sides 35 point defeat of Carlton on Sunday and responded with three goals.
The Noongar 26 year old (pictured) says he’s looked to the example of Rioli for how best to combine the dual roles and provide the defensive pressure that will create opportunities in the forward line.
