Hawthorn coach Alistair Clarkson says he would have been happy for premiership star Jordan Lewis to remain at the club.
Lewis took up a three year contract with Melbourne late last season shortly after fellow Hawks champion Sam Mitchell joined the Eagles.
Clarkson (pictured) says at the time, it was initially thought Lewis would remain with the club but an improved three year offer from the Demons was not something that Lewis could knock back.
