The AFL will continue its experiment with Thursday night Footy in 2017 with five or six games mooted for a shift to Thursday evening.

In a sign of just how enthusiastic the league is about the shift, there are no plans to play  a night final in week one of the 2016 finals series.

Thursday nights clash between the Swans and Hawks was a ratings and attendance bonanza and while the AFL is reluctant to overdue the new innovation, with a new broadcast deal in place from next season, AFL clubs and operations manager Travis Auld says the time is right for the Thursday night fixture to become a regular part of the fixture.
