New South Wales – First Nations students and their parents say Gonski funding has made a positive difference to educational outcomes for young Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders in the state.

Parent and education officer Gai Brown says the school funding has allowed culturally appropriate curriculum and support to be offered to students.

She says the funds which flowed from under the Gonski model helped establish a bilingual language program and has proven to change the lives of our young ones for the better.

Aboriginal Cultural and Community education worker and parent Leon Brown says the duration of previous funding models have been too short and is calling for funding like Gonksi to be continued.
