The title deed of a 10,500 hectare property has been returned to its original owners by the NSW Aboriginal Land Council.

The deed for the property, Barooga Karrai, was originally purchased by the then Wiradjuri Regional Aboriginal Land Council in 1986 but was returned to the NSW ALC after changes to the regional tier of the land council network.

The decision was recently made to return the property to the Murrin Bridge Aboriginal Land Council following extensive consultation with the Land Rights network in the region.

CEO of the council and Wiradjuri woman Leonie O’Neill says they want to turn the property into a sustainable and viable enterprise.
