Laurie Daley says he believes the North Queensland Cowboys have the playing power they need to overcome the loss of skipper Johnathon Thurston (pictured) when they take on the Melbourne Strom at home on Saturday night.

Thurston failed to complete the Cowboys thrashing of the Bulldogs last week but the premiers didn’t appear to be too heavily disrupted by the loss of their principal playmaker, with Michael Morgan and Lachlan Coote steering the Cowboys around the park with ease.

Daley says he wasn’t surprised that the Cowboys adapted so well to the loss of the skipper against the Bulldogs, but that the clash with the Storm could be another challenge entirely.
