The Brisbane Lions AFL Womens team have scored an historic win in their first match in the new league with a 15 point defeat of Melbourne on Sunday afternoon.
Played in horrendous conditions that saw the match suspended for a period after lighting strikes forced the players from the field, Lions forward Britany kicked a crucial goal early in the final quarter to get her side home.
Marquee signing Sabrina Frederick – Traub (pictured) was a standout for the Brisbane side and she said it was a thrill to be part of the teams first ever victory.
