The Hawthorn footy club, currently in something of a rebuilding phase, will rue the one that got away after vice captain Jordan Lewis (pictured) signed a three year deal with Melbourne.

The Hawks had firm been in their assertion that Lewis was very much required by the club but that wasn’t enough to stop Lewis making the move to the Demons.

Lewis was seen by many as the top candidate to take over the Hawks captaincy from Luke Hodge and  he says while there are plenty of regrets over the move, he’s ready to move on to the next challenge.
