Australian rugby league coach Mal Meninga (pictured) doesn’t believe the ongoing ill feeling between the Queensland and New South Wales teams will have a negative effect on the Kangaroos at next years World Cup.
Senior members of both sides have continued to snipe at each other both on and off the field after this years Origin series, leading to fears of a return to the bad old days when the Aussie team was driven apart by the interstate rivalry.
Meninga has taken over the Kangaroos coaching job charged with the express purpose of returning Australia to the top of the rugby league rankings and says he’s confident he’ll have a united squad by the time the World Cup comes around.
