The North Queensland Cowboys have put skipper Johnathon Thurston (pictured) on ice ahead of Saturday nights semi final encounter with Melbourne.
Thurston has reportedly been struggling with illness and the club sent forward Jason Taumalolo to be its representative at the NRL finals launch with co captain Matt Scott also under an injury cloud.
Taumalolo says Thurston suffered a knee injury in the defeat of the Titans on the weekend but he’s confident the skipper will be ready come Saturday night.
