Retiring basketball superstar Lauren Jackson (pictured) says gender inequality in sport is a major factor in the injuries that ultimately forced her from the game.
Jacksons celebrated career saw her play all over the world in order to maximise her earning potential, leading to the serious knee injury and subsequent post operative infection that has caused her to call time on her celebrated career.
The 34 year old says if female basketballers were able to make similar money as the men, they wouldn’t be forced to continue to play while injured while male players have the luxury of time away from the game for recovery.
