The Pacific nation of Fiji is celebrating today after the Fijian Rugby Sevens team took out the gold medal at the Rio Olympics.
Going into the games, the Fijian squad were seen as the countries greatest chance of winning Fiji ‘s first ever Olympic Gold medal and didn’t disappoint in the final, trouncing the Great Britain side 43 – 7.
Rugby Sevens future at the Olympics is only guaranteed until the Tokyo games of 2020 but if the reaction to the Fijian Gold medal is any indicator, the short form, of the game should be a part of the games for many years to come.
