Some of the largest charities assisting the homeless are calling on all political parties to commit to halving the homelessness rate by the year 2025.

The call comes as the National Partnership Agreement on Homelessness failed to attract further commitment in this year’s federal budget.

Organisations behind the call are Anglicare, Mission Australia, Salvation Army, St Vincent de Paul, UnitingCare Australia and Wesley Mission.

CEO of Mission Australia, Catherine Yeomans says there are a number of things than need to happen to address the issue.
