AFL chairman Mike Fitzpatrick (pictured)  has called an end to his ten year reign and will be replaced by fellow commissioner Richard Goyder.

A three time premiership winner with Carlton, Fitzpatrick says he felt the time was right for him to move on having accomplished much in his time in the top job.

Citing the recent six year $2.5 billion broadcast as one of his most significant achievments, Fitzpatrick says there have been many developments in recent times that have convinced him that now is an appropriate time to move on.
