An Arnhem Land Aboriginal health service has raised concerns about the planned national roll-out of a suicide support service for Indigenous families.

The Critical Response Service (CRS) has been trialled in West Australia and this week the Indigenous Affairs Minister signalled a $10mn boost in funding to expand the program to the Northern Territory and South Australia this year.

The chief medical officer at Miwatj Health in Nhulunbuy, Dr Lucas de Toca, says they were not told about the program expansion.

Speaking to the ABC, Dr de Toca says he is concerned there will be a lack of emphasis on community in the program.

Indigenous Affairs Minister Nigel Scullion defended the program.
