A new report by the Menzies School of Health Research highlights the success of Low Aromatic Fuel in reducing petrol sniffing rates within First Nations communities.

The study, which covered 41 communities, revealed almost a 30 per cent drop since 2011.

17 of the communities studied had data going back to 2005, just after Low Aromatic Fuel began to roll out, and saw a more significant decline of sniffing by 88 per cent.

Co-Author of the report Peter d’Abbs says while Low Aromatic Fuel has been the main factor in driving down sniffing rates, it’s not the only solution that needs to be focused on.
