A remote community in northern Queensland has celebrated Children’s Day and Dental Health Week simultaneously, with the launch of a photo book designed to implement healthy habits.
Apunipima Health Promotion Officer Fiona Millard has been in Pormpuraaw working with staff and kids to create words and pictures that demonstrate the importance of dental care.
Children’s Services Director in Pormpuraaw Erin Kendall said the program grew out of listening to the community’s needs.
Childcare educator Nickalah Gothakchalkenin said there were some important take-away messages for children and parents from the day.
