An Arrernte woman and writer says she has “no faith” that any recommendations from a royal commission into the abuse of youth in detention will be implemented.
Speaking on the ABC’s Q & A last night, opinion writer and feminist Celeste Liddle says the last thing Aboriginal people want is another royal commission delivering recommendations that will “gather dust” in parliament house.
Ms Liddle says the increasing incarceration rates following the Deaths in Custody commission of 1991 shows the system is still racist.
