Prime Minister Malcom Turnbull has announced a royal commission into the Northern Territory justice system, following of a scathing report by ABC’s 4 Corners program which revealed disturbing footage showing mistreatment of young inmates.
Footage showed on the program has sparked disgust across the country with many already calling for the royal commission to be expanded nationally.
Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce told media a broad royal commission wouldn’t ideal as it would take a long time.
