Family, friends and fans throughout the First Nations community this week are mourning the loss of Murri country singer Angus Rabbitt who passed away on Monday.
The Cherbourg born singer songwriter was a member of Mop and the Dropouts who penned the cult classic Brisbane Blacks, as well many other anthems of the black struggle.
He started his musical career early, learning off his father who was also a musician.
While he wasn’t large in the mainstream music industry, his songs, life and performances remained grounded with his people.
Waanyi/Garawa cultural advocate and media personality Alec Doomadgee says Angus Rabbitt was a voice of our mob at a grass roots level.
