A draft policy that would give remote Northern Territory communities more control over alcohol management has been condemned by an eminent Central-Australian based chief medical officer.
The territory government is reportedly working on the draft alcohol policy which plans to “support communities to continue to develop Alcohol Management Plans” that “meet their needs and work towards reducing supply.”
Spokesperson for the People’s Alcohol Action Coalition Associate Professor John Boffa said there hasn’t been enough discussion with communities about what they want.
