An Indigenous affairs journalist says the Australian War Memorial in Canberra needs to have official acknowledgement of the Frontier Wars.
The Frontier Wars – which were never formally declared – were waged from 1788 until the emergence of the First Nation’s rights movement in the 1930s. They have never been formally acknowledged by the Australian government.
Conservative estimates have placed the Indigenous death toll at around 20,000 to 30,000.
