An ongoing legal dispute between residents of the remote community of Santa Teresa and the Northern Territory has seen the government use tactics described as “embarrassing” by a remote lawyer.
Residents of the community launched legal action against the government in February over long-overdue housing repairs and maintenance.
Director of Australian Lawyers for Remote Aboriginal Rights Daniel Kelly says the government won’t concede that it is the landlord in Santa Teresa.
Mr Kelly says he is “confident” the argument will be unsuccessful.
