A Narrunga educator says referring to the arrival of the British as an invasion isn’t about political correctness, he says it’s about setting the record straight.
The comment comes as the debate of the Nation’s history spikes once again as the University of New South Wales is accused through media channels of “rewriting history”.
The university’s Diversity Toolkit, which is an iteration of a guide developed in 1996, states that this land was not settled peacefully, and that it was invaded, occupied and colonised.
Lester-Irabinna Rigney from the University of South Australia says the national language changes with peoples understanding of the events.
He says the correct language is unifying rather than divisive.
