The West Australian government has revealed its plans to change the servicing of First Nation’s communities, with minor services to be withdrawn from more than 100 small outstations.
The review, which is due to be released today, will reportedly propose a focus on funding and support for larger communities.
Regional Development Minister Terry Redman says no-one will be forced to leave smaller stations, although government contributions such as fuel subsidies will be withdrawn.
Minister Redman said they will identify ten of the larger communities by the end of the year which will begin receiving better service delivery of water, power and sewerage.
The minister said the 120 communities with less than ten residents will need to be self-sufficient.
