The 2019-2020 Australian bushfire season devastated many parts of the country. Now there’s growing interest in the success of Indigenous land management practices, particularly their use of fire.

Griffith Review commissioned journalist, Nance Haxton, to explore the fire management practices of traditional owner groups across the country for their podcast, Back Story. This podcast hears firsthand from rangers from Minjerribah through to savannah country in the Kimberleys and Top End.

National Indigenous Radio Service broadcast the program on Friday 5 March, 2021.
