The First Nations Heritage Protection Alliance is working with the Federal Government to update and modernise aspects of native title and heritage protections.
It began three years ago and is still ongoing.
National Native Title Council CEO Jamie Lowe says there are a number of issues that need to be dealt with, including the application process and the ability of outsiders interfering with proposed developments.
He also says there is an issue of Prescribed Body Corporates (PBC’s), not having the resources to defend their country on equal footing.
