CRICKET – The inaugural National Indigenous Cricket Championships kick off in Alice Springs next week.

Previously the States and Territories division of the Imparja Cup, the competition will be feature a mix of 50 and 20 over matches.

This will be the third trip to Central Australia for Noongar left arm spinner Blair Dalton who is the vice captain of the Northern Territory side.

The territory side found themselves outgunned at last years competition as the standard of players the competition attracts continues to improve but Dalton is hoping the introduction of five new players to the Territory squad will see them more competitive against the big three Queensland, Western Australia and New South Wales.

The Northern Territory side begin their campaign on Tuesday taking on New South Wales in a twenty over match at Jim McConville Oval.
