AFL – Prominent player manager Peter Jess has called on the AFL Players Association to establish a fund to support former Essendon players banned yesterday for 12 months.
17 of the banned players are no longer playing the game at the highest level but many still make their living playing and coaching in leagues across the country.
Jess, who manages former Essendon player Nathan Lovett Murray, says with the players allowed no involvement in the game at any level, many will find themselves unable to support themselves and their families for the duration of the ban.
