Ash Bartys incredible return to tennis has been recognized with the 21 year old First Nations woman named the winner of the Newcombe Medal.
The medal is awarded to Australias best performed player each year and is apt recognition for Bartys form that saw her move from a position outside the worlds top 300 players to No.17.
The 21 year old (pictured) says her doubles partner Casey Dellacqua was vital in getting her back on court and continues to be her support both on and off the court.
