The Federal Employment Minister has announced a house select committee will examine the Workforce Australia program saying it requires fresh parliamentary scrutiny and oversight.
The Workforce Australia jobs program was designed by the former Morrison Government to replace the Jobactive system on July 1.
The new system has attracted complaints about its mutual obligations which have been described as unreasonable and confusing.
Employment Minister Tony Burke says while the previous government spent nearly two years designing and building the software for the new system, they did not properly explain it to the Australian people.
The announced review has been welcomed by the Australian Council of Social Services with Acting CEO Edwina MacDonald saying this review is a good move to ensure the voices of people who use these services inform the reform process.
It is understood that the review will look at the first 12 months of the scheme and there may be changes to the scheme before a report is handed down.
