The Federal Government has announced funding for safety and community services in Alice Springs.
The announced $25 million will go towards 10 community organisations to fund 20 programs including residential rehabilitation, well-being and violence prevention programs.
The funding is in addition to the $250 million committed by the Federal Government to address community safety and tackle alcohol fuelled violence.
Minister for Indigenous Australians Linda Burney says “Certainty in access to safety and community wellbeing services is critical for First Nations communities, especially children and young people living in and around Alice Springs.”
Member for Lingiari, Marion Scrymgour says the $25 million will go a long way to ensure organisations can continue delivering much needed services.
