A 27-year-old Aboriginal man has died in northern NSW after being tasered and pepper sprayed by police.
In a statement NSW police said two officers were called to a home in Gunnedah in the state’s north-east on Thursday night in response to concerns about the man’s behaviour.
Police allege the man became aggressive and both pepper spray and a taser were used during a struggle before the man lost consciousness.
He was then taken to Gunnedah Hospital before passing away a short time later.
An investigation has been launched which will be subject to independent review.
It’s the ninth Aboriginal death in custody since the beginning of March.
