The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Services (NATSILS) recently launched their GoFundMe campaign to help end black deaths in custody, led by those most affected, the families left behind.

Since the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody in 1991, 437 Indigenous people have died while in custody.

No one has ever been held criminally liable for any of these deaths.

Donations to the cause will fund a dedicated Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander campaigner to work closely with the families whose loved ones have died in custody. Money raised will also support the families to be involved.

Narungga  woman and Co-Chair of NATSILS, Cheryl Axleby says they will continue to put pressure on politicians to create systemic change.
