Aboriginal legal services across the country are calling for an emergency support package from the Federal Government to save services from receding.
They are calling for $250 million which would go towards keeping existing services operating as normal and give them the capacity to fill service gaps.
Chair of sector’s peak body, National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Services, Karly Warner says First Nations legal services need to know they have funding within the next four weeks.
Ms Warner is also the CEO of the Aboriginal Legal Service for New South Wales and the ACT.
She says without funding, they will be forced to freeze services.
