A Worimi woman and member of the Prime Minister’s Indigenous Advisory Council is calling for an alternative to Koori Courts in NSW and Victoria.

The Koori court system has been running in Victoria since 2002 and various forms of circle sentencing operate in every state and territory except Tasmania.

Josephine Cashman told CAAMA radio Koori courts are expensive for tax payers and other states are running better programs.

Ms Cashman says circle sentencing programs in urban areas aren’t running as well as those in regional and remote locations.
