Closing the gap in the justice sector will be a high priority following a meeting on Friday between Governments and the Coalition of Peaks.

The meeting came the day after the 30th anniversary of the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody was marked.

At the meeting it was agreed to accelerate efforts on closing the justice gap and developing a Policy Partnership on Justice.

Priscilla Atkins is the Joint Council rep for Law & Justice and Chair of the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Services.

She says states and territories will bring their proposals to the next quarterly meeting.
