After months of speculation the Bureau of Meteorology has now declared an El Niño weather pattern is now active over the Pacific.
The bureau made the announcement at a press conference this week, while also declaring that an Indian Ocean Dipole has also developed.
With both climate events being declared, Australia can expect dry severe heat this summer, particularly in the east.
Senior Meteorologist, Miriam Bradbury told the ABC we can expect dry hot conditions until at least the end of summer.
