In NSW the coroner will launch an inquest into the death of a Barkindji man during a police pursuit in Broken Hill in March.
The 37-year-old man ran from officers who were attending his home in relation to an outstanding warrant and suffered a “medical episode” during the pursuit.
Officer performed CPR on him before he was taken to Broken Hill Hospital where he was declared dead.
There have been at least six other Indigenous deaths in custody in Australia this year.
The Coroner’s Court confirmed this week and inquest into his death would be held, with a future hearing date yet to be set.
