Worimi Traditional Owners are embarking on a global search to find lost and stolen artefacts with hopes to bring the items home within the following two years.
The Worimi Land Council has enlisted the help of researchers who will identify the location of any artefacts in museums and private collections worldwide.
Land Council CEO, Andrew Smith says it hopes to offer to buy the items rather than demanding the current caretakers return the artefacts.
He believes museums will recognise that Worimi land is the best place for the artefacts to be housed.
Once returned, the artefacts are expected to safeguarded on country in a new cultural centre.
