RUGBY LEAGUE – Queensland assistant coach Kevin Walters (pictured) has confirmed his interest in the vacant Queensland State of Origin coaching job.
Having worked extensively with outgoing coach Mal Meninga and previous Maroons mentor Wayne Bennett, Walters would be the obvious choice to take the Maroons forward following Meningas appointment as Kangaroos coach last week.
Meningas decision to take the Kangaroos job has left the Queensland Rugby League scrambling to appoint a successor with Walters saying he’s yet to hear from the QRL about the job.
