The Executive Director of the Wunan Foundation in the East Kimberley has been appointed as the chair of the Western Australian Aboriginal Advisory Committee.
Ian Trust (pictured) is a Kija man who has worked for decades advocating for stronger a social and economic position for Indigenous people.
The WA Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Peter Collier, has described Mr Trust as an experienced independent voice for the Aboriginal community.
Mr Trust will stand alongside Gail Allison, Troy Eaton, Brenda Garstone, Gordon Gray, Phil Matera, Krista McMeeken and Carol Pettersen on the Advisory Committee.
Mr Trust says it’s too early to tell but he hopes they will get a chance to review the value being realised by the state's indigenous spending.
