The Torres Strait Regional Authority is hoping the recently re-opened Ken Brown Oval will attract a number of sporting carnivals throughout 2016.
Work has been undertaken improving facilities at the iconic sporting venue over the last couple of years with upgraded training facilities, dedicated change rooms and office space all part of the new look sports ground.
The Torres Shire Council received $500,000 from the TSRA to undertake the work and provisions have also been made for an electronic scoreboard and stand alone commentary position.
In celebrating the re-opening of the Oval, TSRA chair Joseph Elu said “The Funding has provided the community with a fully functional sporting facility which will be used for the regions many seasona and major sporting carnivals throughout the year”
