An Indigenous dental student in his final year at Griffith University has been providing free dental care in Cherbourg to relieve the pain for locals.
A team of volunteer students, headed by 26 year old Michael Baker travel to the remote Queensland town four times a year.
The initiative is organised by Mr Baker who sources the funding and the equipment needed through donations.
He says they can potentially see up to 120 patients per trip who otherwise would normally have to travel three hours to Kingaroy with a waiting list of two years.
Mr Baker says the students can develop skills through the program they wouldn’t gain elsewhere and it’s very rewarding.
