The Queensland Government has opened its compensation scheme for First Nations people whose wages were stolen throughout the 20th century.
The 21 million dollar reparations scheme has been set up for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders who had their salaries controlled by state authorities.
Murray Island man Raymond Sambo is one of 12 members of the Stolen Wages Reparations Taskforce assembled to conduct consultations with applicants and provide recommendations to the state.
He told Bumma Bippera Media it was clear through the consultation process that the value of the scheme is a pittance for the damage caused.
