The Central Australian Health Service is set to trial an innovative new language app designed to help First Nations people better access primary health care services.

An Australian Bureau of Statistics report published in 2011 found language barriers were responsible for around 30 percent of all First Nations people not accessing health care services.

Spokesperson for the health service Gail Liston says the app aims to remove the language barriers that can stop our mob from accessing care.

She says the app will be available for use on smartphone or tablet and will be trialled early in the New Year.
