A Spokesperson for the family group fighting against the construction of the nation’s biggest coal mining project set to go ahead on their country says time constraints prevented their objection to compulsory acquisition claims.

Traditional Owners of Queensland’s Galilee Basin, the Wangan and Jagalingou Family Council has launched a judicial review involving the Native Title Tribunal, the Queensland State Government and Indian mining giant Adani.

The State Government plans to issue a freehold lease to Adani for part of Moray Downs to allow the company to start building infrastructure for its 16 billion dollar Carmichael coal mine.

The Family Council’s Spokesperson, Murrawah Johnson, says it’s hard to see that governments care about the interests of Aboriginal people when they’re in the process of forcibly acquiring our country.
