A First Nations artist and judge of the recent Doodle 4 Google winner Stolen Dreamtime by Canberra student Ineka Voigt, says despite criticisms, the image raises awareness of stolen generations.

Ms Voigt’s drawing depicting a First Nations woman naked, clad in ceremonial paint was one of 26,000 in the competition themed “if I could travel back in time I would”.

Brisbane based Murri rights advocate Sam Watson condemned the drawing being used the way it was saying the topic of stolen generation is still a threat to our mob today and the depiction of sensitive cultural practices should have been consulted on.

Bundjalung Woman, Bronwyn Bancroft says it’s a good thing if you can shine a light on First Nations issues.
