The city community of Gimuy in far north Queensland are set to gather over the weekend in remembrance of the Keriba Omasker who passed away this time last year.
One year on since the tragic death of eight children on the local Murray Street of Cairns, a fun community family day will be held tomorrow with a sombre memorial tree planting event at the site on Sunday.
Erub and community church Elder Uncle James Gela says the unprecedented support from the wider community since the tragedy has been overwhelming and the events this weekend is a part of the healing process.
He says the gratitude of the families of the Keriba Omasker goes beyond words and it’s important to hold a family day during this time to show big eso to everyone in Cairns.
