Labor has hit out at the Federal Government for its rejection of an Indigenous Voice to Parliament within a submission to a cabinet meeting.
The submission included the Uluru Statement’s recommendation of forming an Indigenous voice to Parliament which the Government described as neither “desirable nor capable of winning acceptance.”
The formal rejection has been described as a “kick in the guts” by Labor Senator and Yawuru man Pat Dodson.
It comes in the same week the National Congress of Australia’s First Peoples met with the Nations Indigenous affairs ministers.
